Days 28 & 29

Day 28: A skill I'd like to learn.
I would love to learn cake decorating. Piping, fondant, sculpting, everything. I really wanna learn so one day, when I own my own bakery I can decorate my own cakes rather than hire a big huge team.

Day 29: Something I could never tire of.
There's a few things. The first of course would be my boyfriend. Hes so amazing, I cant even describe him. There is no series of words that will do him justice. The second, cats. I love cats!! They are soooooo cute!!! And number 3, Pepsi. Its amazing. Definitely the greatest drink ever.

Skipping over Day 27

I cant draw...at all. And I hate self portraits. So instead Ill just extend yesterdays into  today. Because so much happened today that gives me a very optimistic outlook on the future! I sent in my acceptance form for my claim! And I toured the Art Institute campus, and next week I will be enrolling in their Culinary Management program because Baking and Cooking have been long term hobbies of mine that have become a passion. No matter how stressed I am, or freaked out I am, I'm always serene and happy when I am trying out new recipes. I love cooking and baking. I love being in the kitchen! (Insert sexist joke here) That settlement is going to be the best thing to ever happen! I swear. I'm using it to pay for my enrollment fees for school, pay everyone back who has helped me with my rent, fixing my over drawn fees, buying a dining set (one that is all beat up and ugly so I can refurbish it) as well as some new things that I need to replace since my last roommates kinda ruined things around here. As well as some fantastic new crafting stuff. Bunches of embroidery thread, a shelving system to help prop up the fold out part of my sewing machine/table. And it will also hold my craft supplies. Scissors, replacement needles, fabric, etc. Its seriously exciting! I love new things! And this time i wont have buyers remorse and return it all.....because....that's what I always do....its sad. YAY NEW THINGS AND FOLLOWING YOUR PASSION!!!!!

Day 26: Something I'm Looking Forward To

This is a tough one.....actually, no, its not. I'm looking forward to the day that boyfriend of mine wakes up from his frigging coma. Hes on day 27, and most of his post-session healing comas last like, 29 days, so it shouldn't be too long now. That, and my settlement from the car accident, as well as touring a culinary school tomorrow. This week is gonna be pretty nice. I'm quite excited!

Day 25: The contents of my purse.

I'm not like normal girls. I don't carry a lot in my purse. mainly because I cant be lugging around a hobo bag from delivery to delivery and i don't wanna keep swapping bags. I usually have my wallet, coin purse, pens (for people signing the receipts) chapstick, my favorite red lipstick, a mirror, phone, and my keys. See, not much. However I manage to NEVER find ANYTHING. EVER. Everything always gets lost. no matter the size of the purse. Its so aggravating.

6. I love designing things, like room design, clothing design, etc.
7. I cannot draw to save my life.
8. I have been told I sing like Sara Bareilles
So, yeah, that's that. :)

Day 22: What I Like About My Job

Well, I am a pizza delivery driver, and I love driving. I love being on the road all alone. Just me and no one else, not a care in the world (except avoiding all these mean ole cops we have up here.....we have two separate cops up here, city police and campus police, but they all patrol everywhere so we have twice the amount of cops!!) I also like the tips. I get anywhere from 10-60 a night!! One night I got a $30 tip for singing Happy Birthday to some guys wife during their party, so that was awesome. I don't mind being on the make line either. I get to see all the crazy orders that come through, whether its just a massive 80 pizza order for the university or some weird unappetizing combination of toppings, its always fun....unless one of the big guys (which is like, much larger than the make line shelf) falls down, then we all just look around like GOD DAMN IT THESE PIZZAS SUCK! Minis and big guys are the DEVIL I tell you. THE DEVIL!!! Don't order them, I beg of you, don't!! They're not worth the hassle or the money......I promise.

I feel so accomplished! My first attempt at all of it and it came out nicely! I can't wait till I can do it all again!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's turkey day! Yay! Time to stuff ourselves and wear our fat pants and not be ashamed. A time to gather around the table with our crazy family and catch up. This year I wasn't able to be with my family, so I am flying solo. Plus the boyfriends in a post-session coma.......so I really don't have anywhere to go. So I'm gonna try making my own dinner. I'm making scalloped hassleback potatoes, a spinach and cottage cheese casserole, green beans and bacon, crescent rolls and Jerk Turkey. So, its going to be an interesting cooking endeavor, and I think its totally gonna be worth it. Ill let you know how it goes. :DD

Day 20: Something that means a lot to me. Day 21: A self-portrait.

Yep, I'm a day late, again. I know. But I spent all day writing essays. So I have a valid excuse. so, ill just put these two together. Mainly cause, well, I'm not doing a self portrait, cause I cant draw....at all.

So something that means a lot to me. My boyfriend. He means the world to me. I truly don't know what I would do without him. He is kind and loving and sweet, and so many other things. Hes perfection. Absolute perfection. I don't even know how to describe him, I'd be going on for hours. Hes just fantastic. And I absolutely love him so very very much.

Day 19: Myself, One Year Ago

Yeah, I know, I'm like, 45 minutes late. I was distracted by The Misfits and SpoonFlower. I plan onvmaking my own custom quilt with woodland creature silhouettes, so I'm designing the fabric myself.
So, me one year ago. A struggling sophomore in college. A total loner, living with abusive roommates, I was in a bad place. Living away from my family, my roommates who I was really good friends with, turned on me and started treating me like I was their slave (not even joking), not doing well in school, etc etc. Not a good time for me. Now, I'm kinda in a better place. I have my boyfriend, some friends, a settlement to look forward too, a new computer i plan on getting (or a ticket to Italy). I don't know. I can't say I'm better, but I cant say I'm worse. So, yeah, that's about it.

Day 18: What I Wore Today

I wore a dress that I made over the summer, its a cute tan linen with brown and blue flower clusters and a zipper up the front, a denim jacket, navy nights, and tan knee high riding boots. I felt quite cute today. I have this new obsession with tights. I have red, navy, green, raspberry, black, brown, tan, grey fishnet, lace, mustard, maybe a few more that i just cant remember right now. But I need more, so I'm going to forever 21 this week and buying pink, and mint, and so many more. I'm planning on spending like $30 on tights. :) I. Love. Tights.

Day 17: My Family

Okay, so, this is an interesting one......my family is nuts. I know everyone thinks their family is nuts, but mines nuts.
Mom's side:
The semi normal but very childish side. Everyone acts very immature with each other, for instance, my step-aunt and uncle play tag through the house while my grandfather yells at them to walk, not run. My papa is a grumpy old man who snaps about anything, especially food. He won't eat anything he refers to as "woman's food." My aunt hates kids, my step-aunt is a raging biatch who never leaves anything alone.....seriously, I posted song lyrics from King of Anything by Sara Bareilles, and she called everyone in the family saying I was rude, disrespectful, and needed a serious attitude check before I became a bigger bitch. Yeah.....all that over song lyrics.
Now for dad's side:
I swear, no one put it better than my aunt Kami (or is is Kimmy, idk. Kami had Kimmy or Kimmy had Kami...one or the other). She said "Our family tree is massive and confusing.....and sometimes it loops right on back around....." Which is true, since my step grand-pa is also my step-great-uncle. My grandma married her first husbands brother after he died of something and she had 2 other kids. Each from different fathers. Only one of which she was married to. The other one she only hooked up with, and my father was the outcome of that. So now, there's a stray generation of Native Americans that can't claim themselves as Native American's since my "gramps" won't admit my dad exists. So yeah. My cousin, sis and I are the only generation to not get pregnant in high school. My cousin and I have stable relationships with normal men instead of people with Multiple Personalities who kill people when they're off their meds. They are absolutely redneck to the max, but thankfully, my cousin, sister and I have been able to escape that fate.
Lastly, the future in-laws:
Nucking Futs. That's all I'm gonna say. That's it. I'm gonna shut my mouth before I say anything I regret.
So, theres my family. Crazy all around.....

Day 16: Someone Who Inspires Me

Day 16: Someone who inspires me.
My boyfriend. He has been on his own taking care of himself for a long time. Totally independent, going to school, living on his own, doing his own thing, making his own way. And I suck at that. Also, he's friggin fighting cancer! He's been battling that brain tumor for 8 months now. And that is honestly, truly inspiring. I really don't know how hes doing it. His doctors are all amazed at his strength and how well hes fighting this. He's so strong and I really do admire that about him. And his strength inspires me. And I love him, so very much.

Day 15: Three Blogs I Always Read

I know, I missed the 15th, mainly cause i got sicked into the amazingly hilarious world of Parks and Recreation, so yeah. I'm just gonna do the 15th right now.
Day 15: Three Blogs I Always Read
I have three blogs that I visit so often that for the first one, I type in the letter "a" and hit enter and it goes right to it. The second two start with the same letter so I type in the first two letters, hit enter, and bam, I'm there.
1. http://www.abeautifulmess.com/
I love this blog. Elsie and Emma are amazing. They are like the queens of DIY blogging. Elsie's crafts, Emma's recipes. Its all so perfect! I have tried so many of Elsie's crafts, and its really the reason I got back into crafting. And Emma's recipes are delicious and healthy, and well, I need to be more healthy. And her recipes make it fun to eat healthy food, so I say you should try them out.
2. http://sayyestohoboken.com
I came across this blog courtesy of stumble upon and I must admit I love it. She does a lot of promotional stuff for clothing, and is really good at letting you know trends and deals in fashion. She has got an amazing sense of style, her and her sisters actually, and I really enjoy reading her stuff.
3. http://sweet-verbena.blogspot.com/
She is a college student who sews. Much like myself. However, she is much more creative than I am, and that is why I like reading her blog. She gives me lots of sewing ideas, and pretty much rounds out my crafting world.

Day 14: Style inspiration for the season.

Animals. Yes, animals. Not animal fur print though. Legitimate animals. Like, clothes with animals on them. I have a fox sweater, a squirrel cardigan, butterfly scarf and stuff with owls. Also, deep colors like oxblood, navy, dark brown, raspberry and mustard yellow. Boots.....patterns......stuff like that. What else......floral, deep colored florals. Really, just any dark colors and animals. I just love fall, I'll wear really anything! Tall boots, short boots, scarves, hats, gloves, colored jeans, dresses and tights, peacoats, riding coats, leather jackets, anything. I love being all bundled up. :DD

Day 13: Something I'm Proud Of.

Hmmmmmm....................this is gonna sound bad, but currently, there's not much to be proud of. I guess I can be proud of the fact that I have a job that I like. It doesn't pay much. Actually, it doesn't pay shit but, hey its a job. Also, I can be proud of the fact that I'm going to stop eating junk food and start eating more fruits and vegetables. In fact, I just signed up for Farm Fresh to You, so we'll see how that works for me. I'm so horribly picky with vegetables, so maybe, getting a bunch of random ones delivered to me every other week will help me get on track and incorporate more vegetables as well as learn new recipes.

Day 12: The Last Item I Purchased

That would be a purse. A beautiful mint green purse from target. Modeled after the Cambridge Satchel Company Purses. Soooooo cute!! I also bought my friend a blanket as a belated housewarming gift. She only has one blanket besides her comforter, and its winter, so she needs something to keep her warm. So I got her this super duper fluffy white blanket from target (I have the same one in blue, so I knew it'd be a nice gift). And yeah, thats pretty much it.

Sunday, November 11, 2012

Day 11: Three years ago today.

Hmmmm, okay, 3 years ago, so 2009. I was marching in a Veterans day parade in my home town. Yes, I'm a band geek, and I'm proud of it. So, yeah, the day consisted of hours and hours band practice, learning the song, marching through the streets around the school to make sure were in step with each other. Then, marching all afternoon long, sweating like an absolute pig in those terrible burlap sacks they call uniforms (lined thicker than a winter coat), eating the food that the caterers brought, going back to campus where we were yelled at for everything we did wrong, then going home to shower and sleep. Fun right?

Day 10: A Favorite Recipe.

My favorite recipe....hmmmm, if its baking, then its my grandma's recipe for Cinnamon Rolls. If its Cooking, then its a recipe I got from my favorite local brewery over in Kernville (Kern River Brewing Company, go there if you can, its amazing!!).
For the cinnamon rolls, i make the dough suuuper duuuuper thin and roll it up really tight so that when they bake, the inside stays doughy and the outside gets nice and crisp. :)
so, i guess Ill share the recipe:

1 (1/4 ounce) package dry yeast
1 cup warm milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup margarine
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
4 cups flour

Filling
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 - 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
1/3 cup margarine, softened

Icing
8 tablespoons margarine
1 -1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup cream cheese
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoonsalt

For the rolls, dissolve the yeast in warm milk in a large bowl;
Add sugar, margarine, salt, eggs, and flour, mix well.
Knead the dough into a large ball, using your hands dusted lightly with flour.
Put in a bowl, cover nd let rise in a warm place about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface, until it is approx 21 inches long by 16 inches wide and it should be approx 1/4 inch thick.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
To make filling, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in abowl
Spread the softened margarine over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the surface.
Working carefully from the long edge, roll the dough down to the bottom edge.
Cut the dough into 1 - 3/4 inch slices and place in alightly greased bking pan
Bake for 10 minutes or until light goldenbrown
While the rolls are bking combine the icing ingredients
Beat well with an electric mixer until fluffy
Wen the rolls are done, spread generously with icing.

TIP:  To help reduce the "leaking out of the filling" add a few tablespoons of flour to the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.  Using a flour shaker or sifter, lightly dust the margarine with flour before sprinkling with the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture, then again on top of the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture before rolling up the dough.

As for the sandwich thing from the brewery. Its so simple. You grill chicken then once its done, leave it a little bit longer so you can melt some swiss cheese on to it, then you lightly toast some ciabatta bread on the grill, slather some pesto on the bread, add sundried tomatoes, and there you go. A nice tangy, juicy, cheesy chicken sandwich on artisan bread. tada! By the way, its best with root beer and waffle fries dipped in ranch.

Day 9: A Close Up of My Day

Of course it's today of all darn day that I have to write this one. Today was just, the dumps. I swear. Got a wake up call from my boss saying I was working the morning shift and I was 10 minutes late already. Then, he proceeded to shun and refused to talk to me for my entire 7 hour shift.....then when my shift ended, he wrote me up for being late and told me "being on time is late, you're late too often, get here 10 minutes early from now on. Plus you work too slow, pick up the pace, Your shifts over, go home." Fun right? everyone likes being talked to by their boss. UGH. i hate this crap. I hate working in the food industry! I'm so much better with clothing and decor and projects that require me to work with my hands. Such as sewing, embroidery, building things (walls, patios, fences...etc), repairing things (walls, furniture, stuff like that). Not making food at a seriously rapid pace. I hate food service jobs....hate them.

Day 5-8

Yeah, I know, I'm laggin. But hey, I was at my grandparents, and they do not have wifi, so, no laptop. I had a few days off work, so I went to visit them. I haven't had time or money to go visit them in way too long, so, I felt it was time. :)
Okay, on to the reason for the post.
Day 05: My hometown.Oh man, this is a bad one. I come from the worst town in California. No, not Stockton. Bakersfield. AKA "The Crotch of California." Yep, paints a pretty picture huh? Not really. We are in the top 3 on every ranking list of worst air pollution (http://www.stateoftheair.org/2012/city-rankings/most-polluted-cities.html here's the unfortunate proof) and well, the city itself sucks. Its huge and we've got almost 400k people, but there's NOTHING TO DO! We have ONE mall for our city and all of the outlying cities as well. meaning its always packed. The "nice" side of town (upper class white people, yes white, not Mexican or anything else. just white.) is crawling with pre-teens who are dressed in every stereo-type ever. Hipsters, beach whores (even though were 4 hours from the nearest beach....), wangster's, skaters, valley girls (even though its the wrong valley...) everything you can think of. All standing out there chatting, flirting with each other, spending their ridiculously high allowance they get for doing absolutely nothing. Their presence forever ruined the one and only date spot in town, so, pretty much everyone's a homebody.....we have 3 theaters, and to see a movie each ticket is 10+ (10 for the matinee) and well, nothings ever playing besides kids movies. So, there it is, my "lovely" hometown. See why I worked so hard to move away?
Day 06: A book I'm reading.

I just started reading The Fault in Our Stars because my boyfriend really wants me to. All I know so far is it is about a girl fighting thyroid cancer and she meets a boy who had beat Osteosarcomas (bone cancer) and had lost a leg. Apparently its a tragic love story and apparently, I'm gonna cry. The reason my boyfriend wants me to read it, is because he is currently fighting a nasty brain tumor. He has been for 8 months now. and hes really getting close to beating it. FINALLY. Its been a long and painful road for him, but hes finally kicking this stupid tumors butt, and it looks like hes on the road to recovery. *does a little happy dance* So, he felt this book would benefit me and maybe help me understand the cancer patient POV especially since the main character is snarky, sarcastic, and makes mean jabs at people (all in fun though) which is according to my boyfriend "just like you babe." yeah. love you too......but in all, I think it will give me a new perspective on what hes going through right now. :)
Day 07: A song for the day.A song for the day......hmmmmm. Madness by muse. Its amazing. Really super friggin amazing. The melody, the harmonies, the lyrics, his voice. Everything about it just makes me feel good when it comes on, and it makes me belt out the song along with it like you would not believe. Thankfully I don't sound too bad when I sing so its not like that cow in Home on the Range...you know, the one who had vultures follow her around as they walked through the desert because they thought her singing was actually her wailing in pain as if she was dying. That is thankfully not me. Yeah, check the song out if you don't already know it. You'll love it.
Day 08: Three inspirational quotes.
Confession....I hate inspirational quotes, so, I'm just gonna drop some in here and not explain them, simply because I don't wanna.
1. If you’re going through hell, keep going.
˜ Winston Churchill (1874 – 1965)
2.
The reason so few people are successful is no one has yet found a way for someone to sit down and slide uphill.
˜ W. Clement Stone (1902 – 2002)
3.
Opportunity dances with those already on the dance floor.
˜ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Yeah, enjoy those....they don't really mean anything to me, maybe they mean something to you.

Day 04: A friend I adore.

Hmmmm, I have a few friends I adore. Now, if I don't count my boyfriend in this race, I'd say Rachel. Shes been one of my closest friends for almost 8 years now. When were together, we can be our normal ridiculous selves. Like sitting in the middle of the intersection in front of my moms house just singing along to all of Eminem's fun songs at 11 pm. When something bad happens we are there for each other ASAP, which is pretty fast since we live like, 5 blocks away from each other. Shes wonderful and shes such a great presence in my life and I am truly lucky to have her. :)

Saturday, November 3, 2012

Day 03: Something I never leave the house without.

There's a few things I need.
1. Of course my keys, but also my spare keys since I have the tendency to lock my keys in the car.....
2. My skinny wallet. I know, as a girl, I am supposed to have one of those cute little clutch wallets or whatever, but since I'm a delivery driver, I cant carry around a massive wallet. I just need my license, AAA card, and gas card, so itty bitty wallet it is.
3. My Zune. I have an aux input in my car, so I can play whatever music I want while I drive around.
4. Red lipstick. (Looking cute and hipster vintage gets me more tips from all the drunk college boys I deliver to.)
5. My phone. I swear, its a life saver. If I didn't have my phone, I'd always be lost. like, always. None of the houses have flipping numbers on them down here, there's no street lights, and apparently home owners don't believe in porch lights or driveway lights. I don't know how many people I've had to call and be like, "Yeah, I'm on your street, but I can see ANYTHING!!! please direct me to the correct place."
However, when I'm off work, I usually also carry my camera, chapstick, planner, and little notebook. :)
What do you guys carry around?

Friday, November 2, 2012

Day 02: A favourite movie.

Hmmmm.....my favorite movie.....that one is a toughie. I love so many movies. Scary ones, thrillers, comedies......not chick flicks. I hate chick flicks. If I had to absolutely decide. I'd say......The Machinist. The one with Christian Bale. Its nuts! A total psychological thriller. It takes so long to really understand whats going on, and lots of people don't realize whats really happening until the movie shows you outright, but my goodness its crazy! Its one of those movies that you have to watch a second time because when you see it a second time, all the little hints and stuff are super obvious and you realize, oh my goodness! EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED!!!! It's a crazy and satisfying AHA moment, and its wonderful. Its a crazy ride, but oh so worth it. :)

Thirty days of November

I saw this over on momspark.net and thought it was a nifty idea. I have never stuck to a 30 day thing ever, so, I have decided I'll try one.
These are the daily topics, so, I guess I'll start with todays.
Day 01: A place I'd like to travel.
I would just die to go to Italy. For so many reasons. One, my boyfriend is over there right now, and I'd like to be there with him. Two, and well, the only other one, Its friggin Italy!! Who wouldn't wanna be there? Italian food is just amazing, and anyone who says otherwise is absolutely lying. I would love to learn how the pastas are made and the sauces, and see how they incorporate vegetables properly. I know that sounds retarded, but I am a serious carnivore and my boyfriends a long time committed vegetarian. So, I guess I should learn how to cook vegetables.....cause, I cant really force  meat into every meal seeing as he wont eat it. And hes Italian, so i think learning about his grandparents from the locals and learning some of their recipes would be so much fun!

Day 02: A favourite movie.
Day 03: Something I never leave the house without.
Day 04: A friend I adore.
Day 05: My hometown.
Day 06: A book I'm reading.
Day 07: A song for the day.
Day 08: Three inspirational quotes.
Day 09: A close-up of my day.
Day 10: A favourite recipe.
Day 11: Three years ago today.
Day 12: The last item I purchased.
Day 13: Something I'm proud of.
Day 14: Style inspiration for the season.
Day 15: Three blogs I always read.
Day 16: Someone who inspires me.
Day 17: My family.
Day 18: What I wore today.
Day 19: Myself, one year ago.
Day 20: Something that means a lot to me.
Day 21: A self-portrait.
Day 22: What I love about my job.
Day 23: Eight things you didn't know about me.
Day 24: Something that makes me smile.
Day 25: The contents of my purse.
Day 26: Something I'm looking forward to.
Day 27: A silly self-portrait.
Day 28: A skill I'd like to learn.
Day 29: Something I could never tire of.
Day 30: Three wonderful things that happened this month.

So, I hope Ill be able to keep up with these, if not, feel free to yell at me. (jk, please dont yell at me)

Woodland Creatures Obsession

I do not know why, but I have a severe addiction to woodland creatures. Owls, deer, foxes, friggin anything with any of those, and I'm sold. Hands down.
I am a frequent window shopper of modcloth because their clothes are just fantastic. I can't afford the clothes, but I use the site as inspiration and usually find similar things elsewhere (mainly thrift stores) but their set of woodland creature clothes has got me wanting to save my money like you would not believe! I am horrible with money, so me wanting to save for anything really says something!
Whats really cool is all of the clothes are fall colors or actual fall clothes!! Like these cute little Sweaters!

and these cute dresses and skirt!

And last but most certainly not least (cause its my absolute favorite!!) is this amazing top!!!!

The colors are all so beautiful, and so very fall, and I want every single piece for my wardrobe!
All of these adorable pieces are available on modcloth, so if you love them as much as I do, why not give them a look!
